FOUNDING MANAGING ATTORNEY

Alison is an ILD Founding Managing Attorney providing consultation and legal representation to individuals through ILD’s Legal-Education partnerships within the California State University (CSU) and California Community College (CCC) systems, unique programs that provide immigration legal services to students and community members at dozens of public higher education campuses throughout the state. Alison also represents detained and non-detained clients in removal proceedings, including individuals in the National Qualified Representative Program (NQRP) who have been determined by the immigration court to be unable to represent themselves due to mental health disabilities. With a particular passion for appellate work, she also specializes on ILD’s appeals cases and federal court litigation.

EXPERIENCE Prior to co-founding ILD, Alison worked at Centro Legal de La Raza as an Immigration Managing Attorney, where she oversaw the development and growth of the organization's immigration litigation program, and at the Transgender Law Center where she launched the Trans Immigrant Defense Effort to provide representation to transgender immigrants in removal proceedings and litigated nondiscrimination claims on behalf of transgender youth in federal courts. Alison has also worked at the Asian Law Caucus, where she focused on removal cases, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, where she served as a staff attorney working exclusively in the court’s immigration docket. She successfully litigated several class action lawsuits, including Preap v. Johnson and Aleman Gonzalez v. Barr, which provided the right to bond hearings on behalf of certain detained individuals.

EDUCATION Alison holds a B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the California bar and is fluent in German.
