The trajectory, advocacy efforts, and future of DACA – with Araceli Martínez-Olguín
This episode focuses on DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which is an immigration program implemented in 2012 by the Obama-Biden administration that was made possible by the advocacy of undocumented youth themselves. We’ve had the DACA program for almost nine years, and the program has been at risk of termination several times now, especially during the Trump administration. We’ve seen several lawsuits challenging the efforts to end the program. We are very excited to have Araceli as our guest today as she and her organization, the National Immigration Law Center or NILC, have fought for many years to protect DACA and the rights of all immigrants. In this episode, she shares her litigation & advocacy efforts and experiences to protect the DACA program.
