MANAGING ATTORNEY

Caryn is an ILD Managing Attorney providing consultation and legal representation to individuals through ILD’s Legal-Education partnership within the California State University (CSU) system, a unique program that provides immigration legal services to students and community members at nine CSU campuses.

EXPERIENCE Prior to joining ILD, she served as a Staff Attorney at immigration legal services nonprofit agencies in Portland, Oregon, where she provided consultation, representation, and outreach via community-based clinics throughout urban and rural Oregon and provided direct representation to detained unaccompanied minors. Previously, she developed and led Jewish Family and Community Services (JFCS) East Bay’s immigration legal services program as Program Supervisor and Attorney. At JFCS East Bay, she established strong partnerships with other community-based organizations to expand access to immigration legal services. While in law school, she interned for the U.C. Davis Immigration Law Clinic and California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation. After graduating, she began her legal career at a well-regarded immigration law firm in Sacramento, where she also served as Co-Liaison to the Sacramento USCIS office for AILA’s Northern California Chapter.

EDUCATION Caryn holds a B.A. in History and Spanish from Drew University, an M.A. in history from Tufts University, and a J.D. from University of California, Davis School of Law. She is a member of the California bar and is fluent in Spanish.
