SENIOR LEGAL ASSISTANT

Florencia is an ILD Senior Legal Assistant working with unaccompanied minors as part of our Legal-Education partnership with the Oakland Unified School District, a unique program that provides direct representation to K-12 students and families in removal proceedings.

EXPERIENCE Prior to joining ILD, she was a senior paralegal at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), where she supported unaccompanied minors in removal proceedings. Florencia has also worked as a paralegal with the Law Offices of Stanton & Kaufman where she prepared asylum, U Visa, VAWA, DACA, I-601-A Waivers, naturalization and family-based applications, and at the International Rescue Committee in San Diego, where she served as an immigration case manager and BIA accredited representative focusing on naturalization and adjustment of status applications for refugees from around the world.

EDUCATION Florencia holds a law degree in El Salvador from Universidad Centroamericana José Simeón Cañas and a Master of Comparative Law at California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. She is fluent in Spanish.
