we partner with key legal & community organizations to expand access to counsel and sustain legal services delivery models

Forging strong, collaborative partnerships is critical to maximizing our impact in serving our clients and pushing for systemic change. In addition to our partnerships with educational institutions, ILD attorneys bring long-standing relationships with other nonprofit agencies, public defenders’ offices, and local, statewide, and national experts in immigration direct services, litigation, and policy.

We work with our network of volunteer mental health providers, housing facilities, social services, and community organizations to ensure our clients have the support needed throughout the extended timelines of their immigration cases. We also leverage trained volunteers to assist with transportation, appropriate reunification with family or community members, and managing scheduled appointments for clients. By partnering with a wide range of community organizations, our team is able to ensure that our clients access holistic services, from healthcare to mental health services to housing support, alongside our zealous immigration representation.

ILD has also created novel partnerships with organizations working directly with communities adversely impacted by racist and punitive U.S. immigration laws. In partnership with organizations like the Black LGTBQI+ Migrant Project (BLMP) and Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA), we represent detained immigrants in prisons and detention centers throughout California, Georgia, and Louisiana, allowing us to expand our reach and support grassroots organizations with limited attorney capacity. ILD also works with organizations such as the Immigration Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA), Asian Law Caucus Advancing Justice (ALC), and Community Legal Services of  East Palo Alto (CLSEPA) to support the development of their immigration legal services programs and provide mentorship on removal defense to their immigration teams.
