SENIOR LEGAL ASSISTANT

Lina is an ILD Senior Legal Assistant where she supports direct representation for students through ILD’s Legal-Education partnerships, preparing asylum applications for families in removal proceedings, and supporting the preparation of full-scope asylum cases, U visas, unaccompanied minor adjustments, work permits, and naturalization applications.

EXPERIENCE Lina spent more than 15 years working as an immigrant rights advocate in Bay Area nonprofits and served as the director of the Northern California Citizenship Project, a regional coalition of nonprofit organizations that supported 50,000 Bay Area residents in becoming citizens. As a Program Executive at the Zellerbach Family Foundation, she managed a grant-making program to facilitate the integration and full participation of newcomers in Bay Area communities. In this capacity, she spearheaded a Bay Area funder’s collaborative that worked to expand support for immigration legal services and day labor programs.

EDUCATION Lina holds an M.A. in public policy and nonprofit administration. She is fluent in Spanish.
