Raquel is an ILD staff attorney working with our K-12 Legal-Education partnerships. Through these partnerships, Raquel provides direct representation to students and families in Oakland Unified School District and West Contra Costa Unified School District. 

EXPERIENCE Before joining ILD, Raquel was a staff attorney at Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), where she provided legal representation to unaccompanied children facing removal proceedings. While in law school, Raquel interned with the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic, East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC), Community Justice Alliance (CJA), and KIND. Raquel also worked for the law offices of Schoenleber & Waltermire and Sethi Law Group, supporting clients with I-601A Waivers and family-based applications. 

EDUCATION Raquel holds a B.A. in Criminology, Law & Society, and Social Policy & Public Service from the University of California, Irvine, and a J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law. She is a member of the California Bar and is fluent in Spanish.
