SENIOR LEGAL ASSISTANT

Sam is an ILD Senior Legal Assistant, where he supports clients through ILD’s partnerships with the California State University (CSU) system and the California Community Colleges (CCC), unique programs that provide immigration legal services to students and community members at dozens of public higher education campuses throughout the state. In this capacity, he supports a wide variety of immigration cases, including family-based immigration, waivers, citizenship, DACA, and Special Immigrant Juvenile petitions.

EXPERIENCE For over twenty years, Sam worked as a fully accredited representative at a nonprofit in Portland, Oregon, where he focused on family-based immigration, waivers, citizenship, DACA, and petitions for victims of crimes. He has also represented individuals, including unaccompanied minors, in Immigration Court. Additionally, Sam has worked in immigrant community outreach and has served on various committees to combat fraud perpetrated against immigrants.

EDUCATION Sam holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Spanish at Portland State University. He is fluent in Spanish.
